Introduction to the Psychology of Learning
This course will cover the basic theories of learning, particularly the behavioral and cognitive theories, and the more modern theories such as Brain-based learning and Multiple Intelligences. Everyone is involved in the learning process for at least a quarter of his life; some of us much more than that. Understanding the learning theories and how the brain actually functions leads to better performance both as a teacher and as a student.

Social and Emotional Learning
The course covers the basics of Social and Emotional Learning- what it is; why it is important in schools today. It also provides information on the concept of Emotional Intelligence and how it affects the academic learning. Participants will understand the connection between emotions and learning and therefore how to remove the emotional blocks to learning in their students. This combines some basic aspects of counseling in the classroom, but it goes beyond that. Focus will be on creating a supportive, nurturing , non-threatening environment in the classroom to enhance learning.

Psychology of learning

Learning is a process that depends on experience and leads to longterm changes in behavior potential. Behavior potential designates the possible behavior of an individual, not actual behavior. The main assumption behind all learning psychology is that the effects of the environment, conditioning, reinforcement, etc. provide psychologists with the best information from which to understand human behavior.

Positive Reinforcement: A Self-Instructional Exercise

Conflict resolution is about teaching people new ways to work through and resolve disputes that don’t involve violence. Many schools and community groups offer conflict resolution programs for teens.
